In response to my previous blogs, I can really see where you are coming from Safvan. I really forgot about all the test we had to complete in order to obtain our license. I had to take a test in order to get my permit. It used to be where if you had your permit you just had to wait a year and a day and then you were eligible for your license. Now you have to take a driver's education course called Joshua's Law and we still had to wait a year and a day. I' m not being mean and saying take all the "old people" off the road. They should be allowed to take a test to determine if they are still eligible to drive. They ought to even be allowed to take a retest if they don't do well on it the first time. According to the article, "Should elderly drivers be retested," drivers in Washington, DC require that after the age 70 their drivers must take a vision and reaction test.

I totally agree with you Kia. Our generation has had to complete multiple test to obtain a driver's license. We even had to take the Drug and Alcohol Awarness class, test on it, & show proof before obtaining a driver license. Maybe elderly drivers should not be taken off the road but, yes they should at least be retested for eligibilty. In my opinion, with old age comes declining of senses and alertness. Some elderly will not be as alert as they were years ago. According to (http://www.helpguide.org/elder/senior_citizen_driving.htm), elderly drivers are more likely to violate by running red lights & not yielding, or by receiving traffic citations, etc., due to declining of driving abilities. You never know what may happen on the road. Is it best to take elderly drivers off the road for their safety, being that their driving skills may have decreased?
