Girls with no clothes on!

As long as there will be girls with barely any clothes on, there will be the out pour of low self-esteem. Although the person that dresses in this certain manner will seem happy, it will always be a facade. On top of inner detachments of one's self, the peer pressure today is uncontrollable.Television shows, movies, friends, commercials, magazines, music videos, books, and advertisements collaboratively effect one's mentality, making it seem like one should emulate what they see because it is what everyone else is doing and it is what everyone else is a part of. Genelle Davis says it best when she exclaimed "No one wants to be left out of this tasteless loop." in an article called "Hoochie wear: Assessing the trend of revealing clothing for young girls". She solely blames the pressures of the world, once even including Brittney Spears, when emphasizing the pressures of the world.
There is no doubt that revealing clothes should not be worn because of the negative effects that they can bring. There is an image and a reputation that one must uphold and dressing this way is not the answer, not to mention the people that abuse women can be enticed by their skimpy dress.

  1. This blog discusses a relevant topic. The truth of the matter is that the style has changed, and some women choose to wear more revealing clothing. I do not think that this is due to a lack of self-esteem. Someone who has low self-esteem would not be willing to reveal more due to their shyness. Television shows, magazines, and commercials are trying to sell; that is why they use techniques to add appeal to their products. People who have issues with themselves are most likely the ones who are negatively affected by advertisements. You say that “no one wants be left out of this tasteless loop”, but the truth of the matter is that people who feel the need to follow something that they are against are lost themselves. You cannot blame advertising companies for trying to sell their products; that’s their job. People choose the way that they dress for their own reasons. It is an expression of who they are.

  2. It is beyond comprehendable the way women are portrayed in the media. It pressure's women who don't look like the "beautiful women" in these pictures or movies; to be just like her if she ever wants to get any attention. Even if it means acting out of their character or dressing provacativly. It's sad that theses girl's are being so negativly affected by this and are loosing their self-esteem, but i believe; it all starts at home. If your family doesn't enstill in you that you dont have to be like the "media's dummy" then you trully willl go down hill from there.

  3. This blog caught my attention because it is very true in today's society with what young ladies wear. This blog is right on point with the way women are supposed to be portrayed in society today. I don't think that women should have to dress like but it is very true that it is a self- esteem issue. The women who dress provocative want attention. It is shameful because they want that attention or missing something that they feel they have to dress a certain way.
