Is Buying Adderall as a Study Aid Feeding a Drug Addiction?

Is buying Adderall as a study aid feeding a drug addiction? That is the question I have been trying to get across. To sum up my previous two postings, Adderall is used to treat ADHD and Narcolepsy. However, it is a drug that many college kids use to stay focused and concentrate during long nights of studying. My argument is that many people feel like they can use self-control and over come the pressure of forming an addiction to this drug. This is when I disagree. Addreall stimulates a part of the brain and causes a release of neurotransmitters. The same stimulates prevent neurotransmitters from being used normally by brain cells. So as a user you feel the need to take more and more Adderall to recreate the rush. This is how addiction comes into place and goes from having that little bit of self-control to uncontrollable reactions.

College crack” or the “study drug” as Adderall is referred to, has many dangerous side effects that I want to make aware of. Deprivation of sleep, hallucinations, and death are all possible outcomes that could occur from consuming Adderall. Many other side effects like depression, anxiety, and life-threatening high blood pressure can occur from long-term users who consume Adderall. Just like any other drug the withdrawal process can be long and difficult. "There currently is no medication to take for withdrawal" however; ant-depressants can help alleviate symptoms of depression during early withdrawal. Some symptoms of withdrawal can include: excessive tiredness, hopelessness/depression, and alterations in hearth rhythm.

To sum up my blog I hope I have made a least one person aware of the dangers of Adderall. Even though I joked about it being the new coffee. I recommend drinking a cup coffee any day rather than popping a pill. The bottom line is college kids procrastinate there is no way to change that but we can change the products we use to stay up late. I challenge you as a reader to rise above the temptation of Adderall and to get some sleep.

Is Buying Adderall as a Study Aid Feeding a Drug Addiction?

In my last posting, I talked about how Adderall was becoming a popular drug especially throughout colleges, with late night cramming for tests and exams. Do to many comments on my last post. It is clear to me that many people understand that Adderall can be bad for you, but many feel like the addiction is maintained by self-control. I beg to differ, in the fact that Adderall use can “slide easily from abuse to addiction because of the was the drug acts on the brain.”

Adderall is prescribed in order to restore balance to certain natural substances in the brain. Taking it can cause side effects like weight loss, dizziness, dry mouth, and high blood pressure. Adderall stimulates a part of the brain and causes a release of neurotransmitters. The problem is the same stimulants prevent neurotransmitters from being used normally by brain cells, so the user feels the need to take more Adderall to recreate the rush. Some signs of addiction are increasing tolerance to the drug, which makes it necessary to take more Adderall. Dependence on taking Adderall simply to feel good, and making access to Adderall a priority ahead of other concerns such as friends or work

College crack” also referred to as Adderall can have long-term consequences for abuse users. It can increase the likelihood of other addiction along with on going symptoms even after the use of the drug has stopped. So what is safe to use instead of Adderall? There has been a new study that B vitamins are a lacking deficiency in our bodies. Vitamin B helps functions the "brain and central nervous system." Do not take Adderall for granted it is a drug and can have many effects on the body now or along the road.

Is Buying Adderall as a Study Aid Feeding a Drug Addiction?

College comes with a whole new meaning behind late nights and cramming for test and finals. Finding time to study and time management is a big problem that I know I face and am sure many other college students do as well. The problem is many students are turning to drugs as their new coffee in desperate need to stay awake and stay focused. Adderall is a prescription medication used to treat ADHA and Narcolepsy. However, it is an abused drug that many college kids use to stay focused and to concentrate during long nights of cramming. Although it is a prescription drug and illegal to take if not prescribed by a doctor. It is pretty easy to come across and can easily be addicting especially when you need to stay awake.

In Philip Lindeman's article "The other side of addiction" he mentions that prescription drugs are starting to become a growing trend across college campuses. According to the National Collegiate Heath Assessment, Adderall is the third most commonly used substance among college kids behind alcohol and marijuana. Lintz, a police officer from Colorado State University believes, "When it comes to feeding the mind or feeding addiction, addiction wins." in another reference, Kevin VaLeu writer of Heath & Wellness believes that the temptation lies with in power to gain an edge in overcoming stress and procrastination. Every college kid wants to strive to get ahead and also make the grade therefore, many will do whatever it takes even if it means taking drugs.

The problem I feel is that its not just a one time fix. I believe after that one pill it becomes an addiction that many college kids just keep feeding. In the article "How College got me Addicted" An anonymous student talks about how Adderall took away his motivation for life and soon he depended on it for everything even laundry. Adderall is a dangerous drug that many college students take just to make the grade but end up making an addiction out of it in the end.
