After reading a few blogs and even doing some research, I realized many people believe texting while driving is very dangerous, even more dangerous than drunk driving. At first, I was like how could this be? Because drivers are under the influence and their judgment is impaired. According to this article, your ability to react is slower. I think texting while driving is becoming so dangerous because states have banned it; therefore, it’s harder to text without getting caught. But like Kia Hill stated in her response to my blog, there are alternate ways around this ban. For example, she can download an application for her phone where the text message is read aloud and she doesn’t have to touch the phone, this is probably safer, but it can still be dangerous. Because of the effects of texting while driving and there are ways to still do it, the consequences should be more harsh or the ban should be re- written to fix the loop holes, and actually stop drivers from texting while driving or atleast thinking twice before they do it. This video shows the effects of texting while driving and drunk driving.

i agree with this because in the article is does tell you that your reactions does get slower when you tryin g to text while driving then instead of you drinking and driving because you will be focus on not just one thing but you will be focus on two thing at once and alot of people are not able to do things like that.the article also stats: Sadly, it will likely take more accidents and more deaths to change that attitude. There are countless stories of teens dying in accidents because the driver was texting while driving. this is also true because everytime the cell phone go off everybody is quick to check they phone no matter what because some people phone is like there life so they have to response to what every been sent to them so they dont keep there eyes focus on the road and next thing you know something bad happens. so i agree with this all the way
ReplyDeleteI agree that texting while driving will hinder's the a driver. It diverts the driver's attention away from the road, and when that happens the statistics speak for itself. It may be a slotion to to text while driving and it doesn't impair the driver's attention. There are phones that read aloud texts and if people are able to speak there texts instead of looking at them, it may reduce these accidents by a wide margin. Even though it seems like a win win situation, these phones are very expensive and many people may not be able to afford them. I ffel that it would be better to put a complete ban on cell phones while driving while placing limited rules on them based on the phone you got.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion texting while driving and drinking and driving are equally dangerous. Although, technology is becoming more advanced, this does not make texting while driving safer. I know that if I was driving and my phone had the application, where the phone reads the text message, it would make anxious to reply. Now, to reply to the message I would still have to pick up the phone and text what I want to say. The question i'm getting at is, whether or not technology is promoting texting and driving by making these different applications? To me, its basically saying it's okay to text and drive by making it easier for me read the message.
