KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL!!

When the luxury of texting was brought about it was something everyone had and wanted to learn to do. I wouldn't know what I would do without it. It really comes in handy at times. Texting has made communication so much more conveniant and easier with its many different abbreviations. Be honest, it was the best thing anyone could have ever thought of, we all love it.

However, by it being so much more time consuming, this started people to text while driving without knowing the many dangers. This is the cause of the many accidents and deaths that occur today. According to International Business Times, 16,000 were killed in the US between the years of 2001 and 2007, all due to texting while driving, according to federal data. Many people put themselves, along with others at risk when texting while driving. People also feel the need that the message received is much more important than their lives, as well as others. Well they are wrong, it is a serious distraction. Texting while driving impairs your ability of being alert and focused on the many things around you. For this reason, you should wait until you have reached your destination or even put you phone on silent to avoid the urge of looking at the message.

So, the next time you are on the road think about the many people lives you are putting at stake. Keep your hands on the wheel and off the phone. Is the message so much more important than your life and others?

  1. Texting has been one of the greatest inventions of the century, but it also has negatives that come along with it. Just like others, I am guilty of texting while driving, and though it seems like you are in control, one word read from a text could end yours or another's life. Just like Tishira quoted from International business times (http://www.ibtimes.com/), "texting while driving killed 16,000 during the years 2001-2007." I understand the dangers of texting while driving. Your attention should be devoted to the road, and not on a simple message that can wait. Laws that would ban this action and somehow enforce it, would be extremely helpful, but also a miracle. Do you think there is a way that police officers could actually enforce this law and cut down on the deaths caused by texting while driving?

  2. Your blog is very necessary. There are so many signs posted and so many commercials on television however people will not stop texting and driving until hearing the message so many times that it is programmed into their minds. I once was too guilty of this deed but hearing the message of safe driving irritated me to the point that i stopped. I even noticed a number of people texting and driving when i stopped and i just remember thinking how ridiculous it was. You should watch this video from the Dr. Phil Show(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDlYSPVro0Q), it paallels your felings about texting and driving. Although your argument is thorough and true, the picture detaches the reader from your blog in comparison to similar topics that have more elaborate pictures. verall your blog is really good and informative.
