Apple=Success

Apple continues to look for ways to make changes to the normal way of things. Recently Apple has released the new MacBook Air, an ultra slim MacBook. The MacBook Air has all flash storage; according to Apple, this “eliminates the hard drive enclosure” and “frees up about 90 percent more space . . . for other important things, like a bigger battery.” This has never been done before.

Another big release for Apple is the Mac App Store; this will provide an App, application, Store where one can buy products for desktop systems. Lance Ulanoff (Editor and Senior VP of content for PC Mag) states in his article, “Apple's Mac App Store: This Changes Everything”, that auto-instillation and auto-updates “would all become natural parts of the desktop and laptop operating system.” Apple is said to have convinced thousands of developers to participate under the conditions to keep “30% of all profits.” It will be interesting to see how these new ideas will play out.

Apple is a very successful company coming up with numerous innovative ideas. It is safe to say that they are holding their own in the technology market, with the products that they release. What is interesting is that with all of their success it is not all about putting out the best product; Apple makes it a priority to make their products as eco-friendly as possible. Apple is a company that will definitely be around for a while if it is able to continue its innovative thinking.

Apple=Success

Two of the latest products released from Apple are the Apple Wireless Keyboard and the Magic Trackpad. The wireless keyboard basically explains its self, but the Magic Trackpad is not so simple. As described by Vincent Nguyen, writer for slashgear.com, a Magic Trackpad is essentially “the trackpad from a MacBook Pro, sliced out and blown up[;] the wireless peripheral promises to bring gestures [that] Apple’s mobile users have been enjoying to their desktop compatriots.” The Magic Trackpad is a new method of controlling a computer that allows you to easily access numerous functions with simple finger maneuvers. Nguyen gives a display of the Magic Track pad and its package contents in his article “Magic Trackpad Review”. The Apple Wireless keyboard and Magic Trackpad are both powered by two AA batteries; Apple sells its own rechargeable batteries for them both, which are said to last the lifetime of the devices.

Saying that Apple products are innovative is almost an understatement, but it is more than just the products; it’s how they’re made. Apple makes it a priority to do their part in protecting the environment. In “The story behind Apple’s environmental footprint”, an article in the news section of Apple’s website, Apple states that “we know that the most important thing we can do to reduce our impact on the environment is to improve our products.” This would explain their use smaller designs and packaging. Over time Apple has been working to reduce the amount of carbon emissions its products emit and as show in the carts in “The story behind Apple’s environmental footprint” each one of Apple’s products “exceeds the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s strict ENERGY STAR guidelines for efficiency.” Another example of Apple’s dedication to the environment is their promotional savings of 10% off of the purchase of a new IPod when you bring in your old one to recycle.

Apple = Success

It is safe to say that Apple has become a popular company for technology. When thinking of the recent technology, most would consider IPods, IPhones, IPads, or other Apple products somewhere in their thoughts.
Without a doubt, the IPod is currently the most dominate mp3 player on the market; with the variety of models to choose from, there is an IPod model made for everyone. Currently phones are generally being made to do more than the normal, make and receive phone calls. Now almost all phones have the ability to browse the Internet and run applications, not just Blackberry phones. Apple, making an extension into the phone market, released the IPhone which was a huge success.

The Pew Research Center has done a recent poll showing that Apple has the most press appeal among technology companies, even passing Google, at about 15%; Apple has come a long way. Microsoft used to be very dominate, according to the article “Apple Outpaces Google in Media Attention – Both Get Positive Play” done by journalism.org, just 5 years ago it was considered by many as the most important technology company, ran by the richest man in the world. In the poll done by The Pew Research Center, Microsoft came in 5th behind Twitter and Facebook for the most media coverage.

Although I am a loyal Microsoft user, there is no denying the success of Apple products. The article “Apple reports record sales, profits for the holiday season,” done by Philip Michaels, writer for MacWorld, provides proof of Apple’s increasing popularity. According to Lance Ulanoff, Editor and Senior VP (Vice-President) of content for PC Mag, “In almost every category measured, Apple rated well above the average for tech support, reliability and repairs,” and Apple was considered to “reestablish its brand with the release of the IPhone in 2007.” Ever since then Apple has continued to increase in popularity with the release of products considered to be “innovative and superior in quality (journalism.org).”
